*** EPSON Advanced Printer Driver Set (APD) *** EPSON's TM-series printers have some features that are not found in our normal printers. Windows does not provide any standard way to access these features. The way to access these features is through a 'control' font and a 'control' or 'command' character. When an application prints one of these control characters using the Control font, the driver will replace the character sent with the appropriate printer command that performs the final action. For example, an 'A' printed with the Control font will open a cash drawer attached to the printer. Please refer to the Adobe PDF document that is included with the driver set for complete information about command codes. If you are going to use these drivers with an existing Windows application, and you wish to control the printer (i.e. open the cash drawer), please be aware that the application must allow you to 1) select the 'control' font, and 2) send a control character. Both of these steps are necessary to control the printer; you can not skip one. For assistance with configuring the application to select the font and send the character, please contact your software vendor. If you are a developer and wish to control the printers using Visual C++, Visual Basic, Delphi and other Windows programming languages, the driver has been assigned a special control font and command codes to assist you in controlling the printer. Be sure to also download the documentation and the sample programs to aid you in application development. There are two versions of the example programs. The first is an example of using the driver, while the second is an advanced example of how to read data from the device using the Status API of the driver.
